Team G

I know, I know! Three posts in one night? Trust me, you won't be sorry.

After I found and watched (like 5 times) the new Jenny video for See Fernando (see previous post), I became curious about who made the video, since it was so incredibly awesome. I found Team G. According to their vimeo channel.....

The bottom line is that they have made some of the best and most beautiful music videos I've ever seen. They're like little movies and are so enthralling to watch.


Múm "Sing Along" - This one is my favorite (besides Jenny's, that is). It's one of those things you watch and you think, "Wow. I want to live IN that movie/video/tv show/etc." Just beautiful. I suggest watching in fullscreen mode.

It makes you think about how a letter from a complete stranger could brighten someone's day.... and how much fun it might be to write a "mysterious letter."

7. HARRY POTTER! I'm trying so hard to re-read all 7 before HP & the Half Blood Prince comes out July 15th (for which I already have a date with Jessica). I'm halfway through the third one now.

8. This crazy, crazy show. It's insane and most certainly not for children, but it hooks you and you can't stop watching.

Easter, Twitter v. Blog, Craft-tastic!

First of all, let me wish everybody a Happy Easter!

The above is a little something I stitched from yet another Elsie pattern. It was meant to be a brooch for Lydia, but I just never got around to putting the pin back on it and giving it to her. Oh well, maybe she won't mind a bunny pin even though it's not Easter anymore. Bunnies are cute year-round!

Now, I need to address an issue that has become more and more troublesome over the last few weeks. Twitter v. Blog.

I love my blog. I really, really do. I can post pretty pictures, and get things off my chest that the 140 character limit of Twitter doesn't allow me to do. But, Twitter is just so eeeeeeasy. I can even do it from my phone. And, when I update Twitter, my Facebook status is automatically updated. What more could a geeky girl ask for? So you see, I am in a dilemma. Twitter = rock; blog = hard place.

I thought long and hard about this problem and have come up with a compromise of sorts:

I promise you, dear blog, that I will not let Twitter ruin our relationship. I will blog, and not just Twitter. I will post those pictures, and I will write about my day (given something interesting happens). And I will love you blog, above all other social networking web tools (yes, even more than Facebook, MySpace and Flickr.) I will write a new post at least once every week. I will not abandon you.

And to you, my new friend Twitter, I will use you whenever I need to say something and have no other device handy but my phone. You are wonderful, but you will not be a substitute for real blogging. I will use you, but just know that you can never take the place of blogging.

Happy Happy Friday!

I know, shame on me. I usually don't go a full week without a post, but I guess I've been busy.

Jessica came to visit last weekend and we definitely geeked out the whoooooole time. There was talk of crafting, books, Buffy and other TV shows, and cooking. (Oh my!)
We made the most amazingly delicious Pumpkin Cranberry Bread (according to this recipe).

We also had banana nut pancakes for breakfast.... er.... lunch Saturday. That isn't really a recipe, so much as me adding mashed banana and pecans to a bisquick mix, but they were delicious anyway.

We also fiiiiiinally exchanged Christmas gifts. I made her one of my oh-so-handy crochet hook caddys.


And she made me this.

You're probably confused. It's a Tardis iPod case made from plastic canvas and yarn. There's even a little place for my earphones in the top. Don't know what a Tardis is? Go here. In any case, it's amazingly cute and I love it.

I also finished my first drawing project and turned it in this week. Now we're on to another. I'll post pictures as soon as I have a little more done.

A Long December

I lied.

Okay, it wasn't so much a lie as a non-truth. I haven't gotten around to going through holiday pictures or posting about holiday fun. I'm a terrible, terrible person. After the New Year, this will all change.

I'm leaving tomorrow to go to Abbie's parents house in the metropolis of Rayle for our annual New Years party. Okay, so it's not so much a party as it is me hanging out with Abbie's family putting a puzzle together. But it's our tradition. We've done this every year for 12 or 13 years (we're not exactly sure when we started). When I get back, I will make one looooong post about the holidays and that will be that. Then I can get back to posting about regular, everyday, nerdy, boring things.

They Say It's Your Birthday...

No, wait... It's my birthday.
Just look at all the cards I got!

It was a nice quiet birthday, just what I wanted. I did get some pretty sweet goodies, though.

Ex-roomie Jessica and her mom stopped by last night and we went out to eat. Jess gave me the funniest gift... It was bag full of all the things that I love, but are bad for me. A 2 liter bottle of Sunkist orange soda (my favorite), a giant Hershey bar, a bag of Cheetos, some tasty coffee, and a cute little penguin mug. I've already had one square of the chocolate, a hand full of Cheetos, and two glasses of orange soda. Moderation be damned!

After Chris got off work today, he gave me my gifts. The first was Chocolate Monopoly. It's Monopoly, but all the pieces are chocolate! So fun. There were also some other goodies, like Twizzlers (the pull 'n' peel kind, of course), a Hello Kittly marshmallow pop (I have an unhealthy love for Hello Kitty) and a sweet little snowman globe.
The big gift was this American Eagle bag that I've been coveting for about a month:
As you can see, I looooooove it. I immediately dumped my other purse out and put everything neatly into my new plaid bag. I'm going to take it everywhere with me. Yaaaaaay!

After presents, we went to my favorite fast-food place, Goodbird's, which only exists in Statesboro, but has the best vinegar fries in the universe. My Birthday cake wasn't so much a cake as it was banana pudding... which I still haven't eaten any of.

All in all, a lovely Birthday.

Tonight I'm going to finish up some Christmas gifts and get them wrapped, then crawl into bed and read until I fall asleep.

Since it's my birthday, I'll leave you with my favorite song in the entire world. The Dire Straits "Romeo and Juliet" from 1980. The video is quite ridiculous, but the song is amazing.

Just a few things to share tonight.

Lydia left for home today but before she went, she dropped off my birthday presents. My aunt and uncle gave me my very own copy of Paula Deen's Just Desserts! I am going to bake everything in that book. I can't wait. And Lydia gave me a new super-cute pair of embroidery scissors!
And this ornament that she hand painted. It's the sign for 'W'... since that will be my new last initial in a year. It immediately went on the tree.

And finally, I made a sock creature! It sort of has bunny ears, but it's not a bunny. He has big button eyes, a little pink smile, long legs, wee little arms, and I named him Greg.... since we were watching House when I made him. His head is a little lopsided, but it's not his fault.
